Spring Has Sprung! Tech Day NYC, Picnic Event Planning, and Online Chat

April has been an exciting month at the Upicnic HQ, we’ve had wonderful Spring weather (finally!) and managed to get out to play a whole lot more. Plus – and I can’t stress this enough – Central Park’s lawns are officially open! That means that iconic picnic spots like Sheep meadow and the Great Lawn are ready for you to go sun-tanning and throwing Frisbees around. Cue sunscreen. Cue happy dance.

In case you’ve been hiding under a rock, you should check out all the awesomeness that was Tech Day in New York! We made a lot of new friends, gave out a truckload of cookies, and played bitching cornole games with the crowd. We also managed to check out some amazing new tech startups, from Yotpo and  JustWorks, to Spoiled NYC and Adventurely, and even Served by Stadium’s brainchild ARCADE. It was an absolutely amazing experience, and you’ll soon see the fruits of a million collaborations that will bring y’all even better picnics.

We have also “officially” launched the picnic event planning side of Upicnic! Many of you have already experienced how epic our big picnic events can be, so now you can go out into the world, tell everyone you know,  and inspire memorable picnic events for your bosses, office managers, graduating little sisters, tourism professional friends, and family reunions coordinators. Ok, so maybe “family-reunion coordinator” is not an actual job title, but you know these people are out there, and they need event planning help!

As if that wasn’t enough, we also decided to add more tools to our already stellar customer service repertoire – that’s right, now you can go on Upicnic and start a live chat with our team of picnic pros! Not too shabby, amIright? And hey, we’ll be there even if your questions are not necessarily Upicnic-related… maybe you need to get your co-workers to stop humming, or your mom to stop going through your drawers, or your friends to stop asking if Jon Snow is really dead. Upicnic Pro Tip: show them all pictures of unicorns and force-feed them lemonade and cookies. Trust us, it’ll work.

Btw, big shout out to Inside Hook for including us in their Mother’s Day gifts newsletter! We had a hunch New York City moms needed a family reunion that wouldn’t have them cooking and cleaning all day – so, nice guys that we are (aww), we made it super easy for husbands, kids, and random kind strangers to order a memorable and Instagram-worthy Mother’s Day experience that will actually be relaxing and enjoyable for NYC moms.

All in all, April was a total blur of picnic baskets, blankets and new picnic food, and we are super excited for all the romantic picnic dates we’ve helped with, and for all the epic picnic events happening in May!

Let’s all rejoice that the season of no scarves, no coats and full-blown outdoor fun is here – so ditch your Netflix list and upgrade to a Picnic & Chill lifestyle – benefits include: better tan, no-stress glow, increased happiness, and refreshed Uno skills. Y’all welcome!
