News flash: summer is upon us – and yes, that means you should be trying to convince your HR department and office manager to plan a proper company picnic. New York City parks make for glorious urban retreats, and the beauty is that you can now use Upicnic to organize an office or company picnic that everybody will enjoy.

I know what you’re thinking: most people dread going to company picnics. And why wouldn’t they? Food is generally terrible; a bunch of people always get drunk, rude, and rowdy; and everybody gets forced to participate in awful activities that intrude on personal space boundaries.

We totally get it. The good news is: now you can create a company picnic experience that you can actually enjoy and look forward to. In case you wonder why Upicnic corporate events are so different from traditional office gatherings, here is a rundown of the awesomeness that awaits you:

Games and entertainment are key: because playing sports is a proven way to tighten teams and create synergies across departments. What games are best for office picnics? That depends on your company’s culture and what type of event you have in mind. Think soccer, volleyball, and football for the more agonistic types – think cornhole, ringtoss, and Uno as more leisurely activities – think of having a professional come and entertain everybody’s kids for a couple of hours.

Good, freshly-made food: none of that Costco-bought nonsense of commercial potato salad and sheet cakes. You and co-workers deserve the best picnic food in NYC. Plus, a lot of people will want to hang out and chill on the comfy blankets while snacking on some cheese, hummus, and veggies. No need for a fancy five-course meal. Simple picnic food, fresh and chef-made expressly for you to accommodate any dietary preferences you might have.

Structure is overrated: some will want to chill, some will be parading the kids around, some will want to get tanned, and some will want to throw the ball around. You have total and complete control over the structure of your company picnic, however, you need to accept that eating, drinking, and generally chilling is an ok thing for your coworkers to do.

Location, location, location: I’m not going to lie – unless there are less than 35 people in your office, you will need to request a permit with the department of parks. And yes, they get about a zillion requests a day, so they are not terribly patient people. In any case, whatever borough you select for your company picnic, make sure your location is fairly easy to access via subway (duh) and that it actually shows up on Google Maps – not all parks locations do that.

Zero Hassles: just because the boss picked you to organize this thing, doesn’t mean you need to become a picnic expert overnight or take a 101 office picnic class – you can simply choose Upicnic to do everything for you, and then watch all the praise roll in on a job fabulously done.

There you have it – the perfect recipe for a kickass company picnic that will not actually require you to lift a single finger. Decide the location, order everything you need, and then simply show up – Upicnic will deliver everything for you and your colleagues so you can enjoy the experience with no stress.
