It’s going to be the very best, like no picnic ever was.

If you haven’t been paying attention to the internet for the past few weeks, Pokémon Go is kind of all the rage right now. And why wouldn’t it? The Pokémon universe is the second most lucrative (and loved) video-game based franchise to date, second only to Nintendo’s Mario franchise. It began back when the original Game Boy was all the rage, and has since expanded to include more video games, plus trading card games, animated television shows and movies, comic books (well, technically, mangas), and all kinds of toys, trinkets and merchandise. And that's how we got to 2016 Pokémon.

Plus, Pokémon love now spans a few generations: sure, kids of all ages love the adorable little creatures, but many fans are adults who originally played the games decades ago and have now returned to the games with nostalgic fondness. Ok, so that part might be just my guess, but I can promise you everybody at Upicnic is catching Pokémon and we all fit in the latter category.

Since we’re your picnic experts, we wanted to share our tips for making the most of your Pokémon Go experience while on a picnic, and hopefully help you catch lots and lots of Pokémon.

Pick a spot near multiple Pokéstops. This way you can turn on the lure module and it will attract Pokémon from multiple locations. You can eat and enjoy your picnic while all the Pokémon come to you. You really will be able to catch them all!

Play games to hatch your eggs. Hatching eggs requires you to walk two, five, or ten kilometers - but don’t worry, you won’t have to ditch your picnic bliss - simply play some games that require you to run around the area you’re in. Grab your volleyball, soccer ball, badminton racquet, football, or frisbee and a group of friends and play while your phone is in your pocket. You’ll have those eggs hatched in no time.

Take a post-picnic walk. After we pick up your picnic experience supplies, it could be beneficial to walk around. You’re already at a park, so go explore other areas. You could even find a Pokémon gym to battle it out at or a rare Bieber if you look hard enough.

Order a portable phone charger. Trust us on this, Pokémon Go will capture your battery life too. We have portable iPhone and Android chargers available for rent, so you can optimize your playing time.

The More Upicnic, the More U Catch. Let us “lure” you to some fun and games (and of course, even more Pokémon Go!) On August 6th, we will be moving around in Central Park luring a number of Pokéstops for your gaming pleasure – plus we’ll have perks and giveaways, so make sure to follow us in social to get all the details. The fun will continue on August 14th for our official Pokémon Go picnic! Details soon to come, but let’s just say we’ll have plenty of Pokémon fun. Look out for more details soon on our social media accounts.

Now it’s time to put on our Ash caps and catch ‘em all!
